Ajax: A Fast Introduction

This tutorial is derived from Marty Hall's world-renowned live J2EE training courses. It is intended as a fast introduction to the basics of Ajax for people that already know how to write the server-side part of the process using servlets and JSP. In particular, although this tutorial shows the code for all of the servlets and JSP pages used (downloadable with the rest of the code), it does not explain the server-side code in depth or discuss how to deploy it. For detailed tutorials on writing servlets and JSP and explanations on how to deploy them on Tomcat, please see these tutorials.

AJAX username availability checking

The goal of this AJAX example is to allow a user who is registering for your site to see if the username they want to use is taken already or not, without having to submit a form and reload the page. I believe Digg uses this, and I hear it's all the rage for Astronomy-based dating sites. You can skip to the implemented example in action here. Yeah, I did it in ASP this time, instead of PHP...FOR NO RAISIN WHATSOEVER, except maybe to show that the same JS framework works for both ASP and PHP

This AJAX reader is written in Javascript only, it just request a backend url on the same server then display the feed resulted as you can see in the screenshots below :

Hearing about AJAX constantly, but never have found time to read a lengthy, frustrating, complex tutorial? In the following post, I’m going to explain how to add AJAX functionality to your website in three easy steps. It’s actually quite simple, and I’m going to try and be clear and to the point, but not over or under-explain anything like most tutorials have a tendency to do
