Creating a New Session

You can open a new session from any screen in the SAP system. Follow the menu path or enter the transaction code as shown below:

A new window opens up. The new session becomes the active one until you click on another open session. The session number (2) in the example, is displayed in parentheses to the right of the system name in the Status Bar of each screen.

Multiple SAP Sessions

A session is an open SAP window. You can open several sessions and work on a system task in each session just as you can work with multiple open windows in other software applications. By opening multiple sessions in SAP, you can work in Session 1, while referencing relevant information in Session 2. You can have up to six sessions open at the same time, but it is strongly recommended that you have no more than two sessions open at a time to avoid an unnecessary load on system resources.

Using a Transaction Code

1. Place the cursor in the Command field. (The Command field is located in the Toolbar, see Getting Started: SAP Screens.)
2. Type /n to end the current task, followed by the transaction code.
For example, to start creating a requisition type /nme51.
3. Press the Enter/Return key
